The pop up shop of organic cosmetics
Located at the north of Hong Kong’s Kowloon peninsula, Kowloon Tong has an excellent environment, as it is an area surrounded by universities, upscale residences and gardens with a low density for a city like Hong Kong. The shopping mall directly connected to the Kowloon Tong station is where the kiosk type shop was designed, available for only a limited period. This shop sells a carefully selected collection of the word’s cosmetic products. The concept of the word “organic” is one of the most important principles that people nowadays depend to build their own lifestyle and this shop itself was constructed based on the gentleness and strong image that flushes from the word “organic”. The roundness of the shop’s design associates with the fundamental power that communicates life in a “fruit or seed” which is gently enclosed. Originally, the design was to have a closed round circle but due to several necessary changes, its form was slowly liberated from the inside. The process of its subtle modifications made me realize that the alteration of its formation was just as how nature would change a “fruit or seed”, emphasizing how “organic” is an attractive source, even for a design concept.
